We have MAC OS 10.5.8 We use Outlook for MAC 2011. Use Public Forders, open the file XLSX, but it mode 'read only'. Users can not edit these files. Files are shared, so save them from himself locally and copied at the public Folders - does not fit.
Welcome to the Office 365 group! This is the place to discuss best practices, news, and the latest trends and topics related to Office 365.
How to enable editing? Noticed when opening the file it is placed in the directory: /Users/username/Library/Caches/TemporaryItems/Outlook Temp I did chmod 766 for directory. But files still have rights 644. I see two solutions: configure Outlook 2011 to allow edit documents.
But I can not find where it is configured. Or give the right directory that you could edit the files. But I do not know how.
Hi Joseph, It’s not supported in OWA (Outlook Web App) and Outlook for Mac to move emails from a folder to neither an Office 365 Public Folder nor a migrated one. But we can do that in Outlook for Mac by following the steps below: 1.
Add the public folder to the Outlook for Mac. The article below is for your reference: 2. Move emails to the public folder by dragging and dropping or right-clicking on an email and then select Move to move it. Updated by Larry Yu MSFT 01:31 AM, Sep 17, 2016 (UTC) In addition, I want to inform you that we can do it in Outlook 2013/2016 for Windows as well (maybe you already knew it though).
Regards, Larry. Hi Joseph, I tested on my side and found that I can drag emails from inbox folder to the public folder in Outlook 2011 for Mac. As you said this user can’ do this, I’d like to collect the following information to troubleshoot this issue: 1. The detailed Outlook 2011 for Mac client version. Which permission have this user been assigned to the public folder?
When he dragged the email from inbox to the public folder, did he get any error message? If so, please capture a screenshot of the detailed error message.
Regards, Yang.
